KOLEJ VOKASIONAL PROGRAMME (KV)


Overview

 

Vocational colleges offer vocational college KPM and private vocational colleges for graduates of Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR)

Full time programme (Diploma Vocational Malaysia)

The duration for Malaysian Vocational Diploma is 4 years 3 months. The system used was a system of study,  the student will follow the 4 semester pre-diploma programme, followed by 4 semester diploma programme. After completion of 8 semesters, students will undergo industrial training (on-the-Job training) for 3 months. This training is to prepare students for working life trough exposure to work in a real situation.

The ratio of teaching and learning for academic modules on vocational modules for pre-diploma program is 30:70. This is to give more focus to the ability of Vocational students in practical aspects more than theoretical aspects. Academic modules taught in Vocational College are as follows:

a.  Bahasa Malaysia
b.  English
c.  Mathematics
d.  Mathematics Technology / Social Learning Mathematics
e.  Science
f.  Science Technology / Social Learning Science
g.  Islamic studies / Moral
h.  Physical education
i.  Health education
j.  Business language / International

Vocational College students will also be equipped with the knowledge and skills to produce a product or provide services related to the field of vocational approach followed by Production-Based Education (PBE) and the School of Enterprise (SE) that esposes students to aspects of entrepreneurship.

Vocational College courses offerings are in accordance with the needs of national economy corridor. Courses Vocational College covers a variety of fields such as engineering, business, agriculture and hospitality. Vocational Education curriculum developed in collaboration with industry and refers to the National Occupational Skills Standards (NOSS) issued by the Department of Skills Development, Ministry of Human Resources. Malaysian vocational diploma programmes are implemented according to the guidelines Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA)
Assessment of vocational colleges involves two components:

  1. Evaluation
  2. Assessment Centre College

The ration of college assessment to assessment Center for Academic module is 30:70 and for vocational module is 70:30
